General Information

RCI Independence of the Seas

November 11 – 17, 2018

This is a 6-night cruise leaving out of Port Everglades, Ft Lauderdale, FL with stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cozumel, Mexico.

Here are few things that a Bliss cruise has to offer:
• Adults 21 or older only which means…NO kids allowed!
• Open decks and pool areas are clothing optional.
• Clothing optional shore excursions.
• Meet & Greets to help you break the ice and meet new people.
• Seminars that educate and allow you to explore new areas of the lifestyle.
• Multiple play areas to meet your level of comfort and interest.
• Evening entertainment and late night dance parties in various venues.
• Themed nights to add a little extra fun to dressing up & heading out for the night.

A highlight of any ship with RCI’s Promenade is evening parties with the vibe of street festivals.  Spanning three football fields in length, it’s lined with a range of shops, casual eateries, bars and even a men’s barbershop.

The ship’s sun deck, which consists of three distinct pool areas, is magically colorful, full of energy and comfortable. The center pool with its attendant whirlpools is party-central — at least during the daytime. It’s the site of lighthearted fun, pool contests and music on sea days.

The Solarium is a pretty, though small, adults-only pool area that includes two whirlpools that are cantilevered out over the ship (great spots for watching the sun set), a bar that opens only on sea days and swinging benches.

Independence of the Seas’ rock-climbing wall, which hovers some 30 feet above the deck and 200 feet above the sea, can accommodate two climbers at a time. There’s no fee to use it. Other recreational facilities include a full basketball court (also pressed into use for soccer games and dodge ball), a running track, mini-golf, a golf simulator and the ice rink. (Skate rentals are free of charge.)

Itinerary

7 Days and 6 Nights

Leaving from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica & Cozumel, Mexico.

*** All itineraries are subject to change without notice.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

The north coast town of Montego Bay makes for a very lively and colorful welcome to Jamaica for the many visitors. MoBay, as it’s called, offers a steady schedule of food and cultural festivals, and some of the Caribbean’s most entertaining beaches (offering water sports, waterfront bars and more). Add in golfing, duty-free shopping and easy access to the island’s active adventures, and visitors can have as lazy or as action-packed of a day as they choose.

Montego Bay also serves as the gateway to the best Jamaica has to offer. Just east of Montego Bay is Ocho Rios, best known for its spectacular Dunn’s River Falls. Or, travel west to reach the beautiful Seven Mile Beach of Negril, just a one and a half hour drive. Thanks to its central location, Montego Bay gives visitors the best tour experiences of the north coast of Jamaica.

Cozumel, Mexico

The Conquistadors first saw Mexico from the shores of Cozumel while searching for gold. Today, visitors to the island continue to seek out gold and silver jewelry in the shops of San Miguel while having a great time in its many local bars and restaurants. Plus, the waters around Cozumel’s sheltered coral reefs make this one of the best snorkeling areas in the world.

Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Tulúm, majestically perched above the turquoise Caribbean. The site was occupied as far back as 600 A.D. However, it was most densely populated around 1200 A.D. You will be struck by the pyramid-shaped El Castillo, which dominates the city from atop a forty-foot cliff. The nearby Temple of the Descending God provides equally excellent insight into the architecture of the Mayan people, who gained considerable achievements in the arts and sciences, only to decline and vanish for no apparent reason.

Booking Considerations

Cabin Type

Do you prefer a cabin with or without a window? Cabins without a window are normally located on the inside corridor of the ship. There are also balcony rooms and suites. Balcony rooms come with an outside patio area where the scenery can be enjoyed without leaving quarters. Suites include a sleeping and dining area with additional amenities. ** If someone in your party is prone to sea sickness, choose a cabin that is in a lower level and in the middle of the ship.

Cabin Size

Having comfortable surroundings is important when going on a week-long cruise. Will you be spending a lot of time in the cabin? Do you want to wake up and drink coffee on the balcony? A small cabin with no window isn’t a good fit for passengers that are claustrophobic. Make sure to determine your needs ahead of time and book a cabin size accordingly.

Amenities

Cabins and suites offer a wide range of amenities from Concierge services, to menu upgrades and spa access, to wet bars and butlers in the suite class. Determine which perks will make your vacation complete before finalizing a cabin.
